Demonstrating amazing community spirit, and support of our arts centre and local talent, over $60,000 was raised for the development of Extinction in 2016.

The play, written by Helpmann award winning playwright and screenwriter Hannie Rayson and directed by acclaimed film director and producer Nadia Tass, centred on the locally endangered Tiger Quoll.

Extinction highlights an important conservation message around a unique and personal human story, set along our region’s Surf Coast.

With thanks to our generous donors, Geelong Arts Centre produced the play in partnership with Red Stitch Actors Theatre and in doing so, established our commitment to grow creative capability.

Extinction was staged at Geelong Arts Centre, Canberra Theatre Centre and Arts Centre Melbourne. The play was also selected as a VCE text in 2018.
