Magic Makers: School Holiday Workshop
Join us for an immersive workshop and share an introduction to the wonderful world of puppetry!
Experience demonstrations of different types of puppets and how they are brought to life and then enjoy a puppet show featuring some of Georgie Rose’s very own magical puppets.
The Workshop:
After meeting the puppets, children will join in for a creative wand making activity where they will be encouraged to use art materials in the design and construction of their very own magic wands.
With their magic wand creations in hand, children then become the audience members and play an active role in the puppet show, A Magical Quest, helping the little Elf on his magical adventure!
The Puppet Show:
A Magical Quest!
Oh no! Elf has lost his magical powers …
Come on a journey through an enchanted world on the quest to find his powers. As we follow the little Elf through the forest the audience will encounter many magical creatures including a shy dragon, a fairy princess, a helpful monster, a frog prince, and fairy-tale friends as he collects ingredients for a special magic potion.
This delightful puppet show is fun for the whole family, including a diverse troupe of puppets, magical illusions, and beautiful musical accompaniment to narrative storytelling.
Audience members will be invited to help the Elf rediscover his powers through using their enchanted wands and inner magic!
Georgie Rose
Georgie is an artist, storyteller and puppeteer, creating from her studio in Mt Franklin, Victoria. Her experiences in local and international community development, filmmaking and art therapy has led to an interest in the diverse and dynamic world of puppetry - puppets can communicate in powerful ways that transcend language and can express things that we humans struggle with.
Georgie is passionate about exploring and discovering ways to connect with and engage people of all ages and enjoys using film, live performance and puppetry workshops (facilitated in schools, art centres and community events).
Puppetry and art provide a natural outlet for big ideas and exciting themes - Georgie loves evolving projects from initial concepts to completed works. As an active member of the Puppetsmithery Melbourne she enjoys working on diverse projects including collaborating with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre on the performance of 'String Symphony'.
