Geelong Ballet Centre proudly presents the enchanting story of The Sleeping Beauty set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score.
Long ago, when forests were filled with magic and fairies, a King and Queen welcomed a baby daughter, the Princess Aurora. A celebration is held, attended by fairies bearing gifts for the young princess. But one fairy is not invited, Carabosse, the Fairy of Wisdom.
She is terribly upset, and attempts to place a curse of death on the baby princess. However the leader of the fairies, the Lilac Fairy, has yet to give her gift. She softens the curse, and the princess will not die, but will grow up, prick her finger on a spindle, and she and the whole kingdom will sleep for 100 years.
The princess may be woken by true love's kiss, but will she be found by her prince and live happily ever after?
