Bert grew up in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne and subsequently spending most of his 20’s in the city Bert moved to Geelong 16 years ago. His relationship to GAC dates back to when he was a teen and would travel to Geelong to see his sister’s friend in amateur musicals.

Since then he’s been lucky enough to perform on the Playhouse stage and the drama studio and holds the centre with the highest regard. His wife Amanda grew up in Geelong and boast many more credits in the GAC. He looks forward to more time on these stages in the future.

He is one of Australia’s leading men, Bert’s Melbourne Theatre Company credits include: Kiss of the Spider Woman, Lungs, Rupert, Birdland, The Mountaintop, Elling, A Behanding in Spokane, Clybourne Park, Richard III and others. For Sydney Theatre Company, he has performed in All My Sons, The Grenade and Spelling Bee, and for Malthouse Theatre credits include: Cloudstreet, I am A Miracle, Time Share.

Musical theatre include: The Book of Mormon (Watchtower Productions), Helpmann Award Winner An Officer and a Gentleman (Gordon Frost Organisation), Chess (The Production Company), Grey Gardens (The Production Company), Pippin (Kookaburra Theatre), Full Monty (IMG / David Atkins), Jesus Christ Superstar (Really Useful Group), Showboat (Livent/Marriner Productions), Guys and Dolls (Ambassador Group).

Screen credits include a recurring role on Wentworth (Foxtel), Upper Middle Bogan (ABC), Tomorrow When The War Began (ABC), Lowdown (ABC), Wilfred (ABC), The Let Down (ABC/Netflix), Squinters (SBS). Film credits including Animal Kingdom (Porchlight Films) and The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee (Kathy Morgan International).

Robert is an Australian actor, composer and producer. With a passion for ballet from a very young age, Robert has never been a stranger to the stage. He acquired a BFA in Music Theatre, completing studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2011. With multiple credits as a professional performer in both the UK and Australia, Robert is known for most recently playing the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s critically acclaimed Jesus Christ Super Star at London’s Barbican Centre. As a composer, Robert has contributed new work to Australian musical theatre with shows Dreamsong and Guilty Pleasures.
