Community Guidelines
As an active member of Geelong Arts Centre’s online community, you play an important role in the experiences we offer online, sharing unique insight and stories behind the people, shows and experiences that make Geelong Arts Centre a leading creative destination.
Geelong Arts Centre’s social channels are a safe space for people to learn about and discuss creative experiences in our region.
The following guidelines have been created to establish rules of engagement with our community, to ensure that our social channels are an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone.
Who does this apply to?
The following guidelines apply to all accounts who interact with Geelong Arts Centre’s content and accounts on any social media platform, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter / X, Instagram – as well as video sharing platforms including YouTube, Vimeo and TikTok.
Guidelines
Be respectful
Treat everyone with whom you interact with respect. Any profanities, personal attacks, harassment, discriminatory language including language that is racist, sexist, homophobic or sexually explicit will not be tolerated. Using this language may result in your posts or comments being removed from Geelong Arts Centre channels, and your user profile being blocked.
Be authentic
We encourage you to engage with our community as yourself. Any posts from misleading or suspicious profiles may be deleted, regardless of the topic, and the offending profile may be blocked.
Protect your privacy
Our social channels are public space, so do not share any personal information about yourself. This includes your email address, phone number, address or other personal information. If shared, this information becomes publicly available – where this occurs, we will take steps to remove personal information but cannot guarantee that it has not already been seen and saved by others.
Stay relevant
We ask you to keep comments relevant to the original post. Spamming the same message across multiple posts that is unrelated to the subject post, sharing links to advertisements, political content, or spreading misinformation will result in comments being removed, and the offending profile may be blocked.
Respect the law
Posting illegal content or comments that encourage others to break the law will be removed, and the offending profile may be blocked. Geelong Arts Centre reserves the right to report any posts to law enforcement
Follow social channel rules
As well as adhering to Geelong Arts Centre’s Online Community Guidelines, you must also observe the policies of the specific channels that you are using – this includes the rules of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter / X, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo and TikTok.
If these guidelines are not followed by participants, Geelong Arts Centre may take any action it deems appropriate. This may include warning the offender, deleting comments and/or blocking users.
