Amplified: The Exquisite Rock and Rage of Chrissy Amphlett roars into Geelong Arts Centre on February 12–13, a powerful homecoming for the Chrissy
Amphlett story. Acclaimed writer and performer Sheridan Harbridge (Prima Facie) celebrates the legendary Divinyls frontwoman in this electrifying new rock show, that channels Chrissy’s fierce spirit through anecdotes and songs.

Chrissy Amphlett was a seismic force in a school uniform. She had raw talent, stage‑conquering energy and an unmistakable rock’n’roll rasp. Her audacious blend of sexuality and vulnerability defined a generation.

Before she took the world by storm as the frontwoman of the Divinyls, Chrissy Amphlett was a Geelong girl, attending Belmont High School, forming the fierce independence and musical
grit that would later electrify stages across Australia and beyond. From the sticky carpets of suburban pubs to the top of the charts, she exploded onto the male‑dominated rock music
scene and changed it forever.

Co‑created by Sheridan Harbridge and multi‑award‑winning director Sarah Goodes (Julia), Amplified takes audiences on a kaleidoscopic tour through the eyes of fans and those who
knew her—into the heart of an artist far ahead of her time.

Amplified was developed in Geelong with the support of Geelong Arts Centre, honouring both the city’s connection to Chrissy Amphlett’s early life and its ongoing role in nurturing
bold, ambitious Australian theatrical work. Geelong Arts Centre’s SEASON 2026 is proudly supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria and Major Artistic Partner Deakin University.
