Geelong Arts Centre is thrilled to announce the return of treasured daytime performance program, Delightful Days & Matinees in 2024; bringing some of Australia’s best-loved performers to Geelong to create memorable, engaging and delightful daytime experiences.
Off the back of today’s finale performance of the 2023 Delightful Days & Matinees series, Becoming Eliza, Geelong Arts Centre has wasted no time in announcing the exceptional new 2024 program.
Consisting of six exceptional performances scheduled from February to December, the ever-popular Delightful Days & Matinees program promises to continue its reign as the region’s premiere daytime entertainment offering.
An essential part of Geelong’s daytime entertainment calendar, Delightful Days & Matinees is committed to engaging and connecting with audiences of all ages who prefer to visit Geelong Arts Centre during the day.
Delightful Days & Matinees will continue to foster opportunities for social connection and high-quality theatre experiences.
Kicking off on 14 February, acclaimed Australian jazz vocalist, Tamara Kuldin, and an ensemble of the country’s finest jazz musicians, will take audiences on an intimate and sentimental journey through Doris Day’s most iconic and treasured songs with Dear Doris.
Then, on 17 April, acclaimed entertainers Amelia Ryan, Michaela Burger and Michael Griffith shine in Simply Brill; a joyous, triumphant and awe-inspiring celebration of the songwriters who transformed 1960s rock ‘n’ roll forever. Theatrically presented, Simply Brill takes audiences on a thrilling ride with its dynamic blend of history, humour and heart.
Having received an Olivier Awards nomination for Songs for Nobodies in 2019, Bernadette Robinson takes the stage on 5 June with The Songs of Judy Garland; a special concert sharing the classic tunes, and hilarious and heartbreaking anecdotes from the extraordinary life of this legendary artist.
Come 31 July, long-time Australian jazz favourites, The Syncopators return to Geelong Arts Centre with a very special concert to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Since 1984, the award-winning band has released almost 20 albums, toured internationally as cultural ambassadors, and drawn standing ovations worldwide. Expect superb musicianship, stage presence and a keen sense of humour.
9 October will see The Dancin Man hit The Play House stage; Luke Alleva’s all singing ad dancing one man show celebrating the men of song and dance that graced us on stage and screen – from Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire to The Nicholas Brothers and Sammy Davis Jnr. Accompanied by a 3 piece band, The Dancin Man takes you through the classic decades when music and dance had style, grace, and charisma.
Finally, as we approach the festive season, join Australian star of stage and screen, Lucy Durack for A Merry Little Christmas with Lucy Durack!
