Memory House

Ignition | Creative Engine Grant Recipient 2020

Memory House is a short dance theatre film by Blink Dance Theatre that explores the physicality of memory, the body as home and the Jungian archetype of the house as a metaphor for self.

A spiraling journey through time and memory as one woman looks back on her past to re-create her future. Memory House (8 mins) explores the physicality of memory, the body as home and the Jungian archetype of the house as a metaphor for self. The body becomes a site for both sanctuary and confinement in repeating patterns of human behaviour.

Filmed locally onsite at the Geelong Arts Centre, the development of the film is a partnership between local performance company, Blink Dance Theatre and Geelong Arts Centre as part of new creative initiatives to support and foster local artists.

The project has additional funding support from the City of Greater Geelong and Geelong Connected Communities.

Memory House premiered at Village Cinemas Geelong on Thursday 18 March 2021.
