KARINA DONKERS

Karina shares her story of stepping into environmental and climate change leadership at a young age. Her storytelling empowers young people to feel to create change and how to demonstrate leadership on a day to day basis. Karina also shares key elements of what it takes to be a leader and the challenges and opportunities that present themselves along the way.

EARTH CARE IN THE HOME

KARINA DONKERS

Karina introduces students to methods of introducing Earth Care principals into their homes. She demonstrates how to implement sustainable strategies into their everyday lives and invites students to engage in activities including waste auditing, composting, localised consumption, plastic free living and greening your home.

KARINA DONKERS BIO

Karina has a Bachelor of Social Work, specialising in Community Development, Environment/Climate Change and Mental Health. Trained in Deep Ecology by Joanna Macy in the Work that Reconnects, permaculture designer and facilitator of the Change the Dream seminars. She has worked/volunteered locally and internationally on projects focused on marine life such as the Humpback whales and turtle conservation as well as projects address the effects of climate change and inspire people to action. Karina has spent the past 8 months travelling around Australia running an environment project called Eco Voices. Karina is passionate about developing young leaders in sustainability and encouraging people to rise to the call. Karina believes that every individual can bring something unique to the world and to these challenging times.

  • Spearheaded successful campaign for Surf Coast Council to declare a climate emergency
  • Campaign team member for an independent candidate in the recent State and Federal election
