The very embodiment of the folk singer, Luka Bloom has that deep sense of social justice with an uncanny ability to distil contemporary life into the pithiest and most alluring combinations of lyrics and melody lines.
From Luka - "So, here's the thing... My last tour in 2024 was my 15th, and probably my favourite tour of Australia. I carried a wee secret during that whole journey. About 3 weeks before the tour began, I was diagnosed with a major heart issue, requiring full-on open-heart surgery. I asked the doctor, how long did I have before I needed to take this REALLY seriously. (Australia was in my mind). Surgery was needed within a year, preferably less than that. So, off I went, singing my way around your beautiful country, knowing that I was going home to 'interesting' times... The surgery happened in November '24. It took about 6-8 months to begin to sing again. During that time, I wondered would I ever see Australia again, ever sing there again.
So, in May 2025, on my 70th birthday, I released my 25th album, called A Second Wind. And now I am preparing for my 16th tour of Australia in Feb-April 2027. it is called The Second Wind Tour, because that is what I have been given. In recent weeks I have been recording yet again. But for now, what matters is the return to this country I have loved so much since the Enmore in Sydney in 1992."
