Written by Christine Croyden and presented by award-winning SOOT Productions, UNDERGROUND plunges audiences into the wild, witty and perilous world of Australian Nancy Wake — the spy, saboteur and World War Two resistance fighter whose audacity made her legendary and controversial.

Set against the shadows of occupied France, the play exposes the risks Nancy took and the fine line she walked between heroism and self-destruction.

Fast-paced, darkly funny and fiercely intelligent, UNDERGROUND asks what bravery costs — not just in wartime, but in the choices that define a life. Was Nancy Wake a hero, a rebel, a troublemaker, or something far more complex? The play invites audiences to wrestle with the contradictions she embodied: glamour and grit, charm and ruthlessness, vulnerability and ferocious resolve.

UNDERGROUND is a gripping theatrical journeyinto resistance, courage and the unstoppable force of a woman who refused to obey.
