Audience invited into wild retelling of the story about the original master of seduction: Don Juan at Geelong Arts Centre

4 Mar 2022

MEDIA RELEASE • 4 MARCH 2022

Following the fabulous reception of their outrageous portrayal of Jekyll and Hyde during last year’s Winter Escape Season, A Slightly Isolated Dog and NCM return to Geelong Arts Centre in April to entice and delight with Don Juan as part of Our Season 2022.

Directed by the award-winning Leo Gene Peters and an audacious cast of New Zealand performers, Don Juan is the boldest and greatest of men, seducing, fighting, and charming his way through life. He does whatever he wants and to hell with the consequences. He lives big, loves big, and leaves a trail of broken hearts in his wake

By putting the audience in the centre of the action, these five ludicrous “French” performers leave Don Juan feeling more like a party than a play.

Playing a revolving repertoire of outrageous characters including their own version of Don Juan, this talented Kiwi cast depict how, despite our best efforts, we often fail to be the impressive person we wish to be.

Running from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 April in Geelong Arts Centre’s state of the art Studio 4, Don Juan brings together brilliant physical comedy, twisted pop songs and explosive wit to create a hilarious and irreverent show.

Each performance runs for 65 minutes without interval.

Tickets are on sale now at geelongartscentre.org.au/our-season-2022/don-juan/. Capacity in Studio 4 is limited – get in quick!

Featuring 11 vital stories that you won’t want to miss, Our Season 2022 showcases the voices of those who have overcome hardship, broken down barriers and fought for their place upon the world stage.

QUOTES ATTRIBUTABLE

“It’s important that Geelong Arts Centre responds to our community by providing theatre experiences that they want to see, and after the incredible feedback we received from seasoned arts veterans, first-time theatre-goers and everyone in between following Jekyll and Hyde in 2021, there was no question as to whether we should bring A Slightly Isolated Dog back to Geelong.””

Geelong Arts Centre Senior Producer - Programming & Creative Engine,

Penny McCabe
