Pull up a cushion! Introducing Geelong's youngest maestros to music with the MSO's Jams for Juniors: Swan Lake at Geelong Arts Centre

Kicking off Geelong Arts Centre’s 2022 Family Magic program on Saturday 19 March, Geelong Arts Centre and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are proud to present a 45-minute musical experience Jams for Juniors: Swan Lake.
Led by celebrated music educator, presenter, author and composer/arranger Karen Kyriakou, and featuring musicians from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Jams for Juniors invites children aged 0-5 and their adults to pull up a cushion and explore Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with their little ones as they explore, play and join in.
Each immersive performance is only 45 minutes, including 10 minutes for participants to ‘Meet the Instruments’.
Taking place in Studio 4 at Geelong Arts Centre’s landmark Ryrie Street building on Saturday 19 March, there are three performances available to choose from at 10:00am, 11:30am and 1:00pm.
Having proved a popular addition to the Geelong Arts Centre Family Magic program in previous years, Jams for Juniors is the perfect way to introduce babies and toddlers to the magic of music.

Consisting of six brilliantly dynamic, engaging and accessible performances, the Geelong Arts Centre’s 2022 Family Magic program is designed to captivate, inspire and entertain children under 12, as well as their parents, siblings, grandparents and carers.

ABOUT KAREN KYRIACOU
Karen Kyriakou’s work as an educator, author, and composer/arranger is underpinned by her passion for music’s unique capacity to unite and inspire. She works broadly in the area of music education, with students from kindergarten to tertiary level. Karen holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Masters of Music Education.
With over 25 years' experience in the field, Karen is renowned for her ever-innovative approach to music education. She is in demand as a presenter and workshop facilitator with many of Australia’s leading arts organisations and delivers professional learning seminars to teachers of all levels of skill and experience.
Karen is a long-time Artist in Residence in schools for children with additional needs. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2012 to further her studies in the area of Music and the Deaf. Karen has developed a ‘teaching toolbox’ for making music inclusive for students with disabilities, working with them to perform and create music.
A staunch advocate of lifelong learning, Karen regularly presents at industry conferences, championing creative music-making and inclusive music education.
