MEDIA RELEASE • 5 APRIL 2022

Community Fuel is Geelong Arts Centre’s newest Creative Engine initiative inviting local creatives to pitch ideas to arts-loving members of the Geelong community.

Community Fuel is a live series of micro-grant events where attendees will see the impact of the community’s collective ‘fuel’ instantly, with all money raised from tickets sold awarded to the winning pitch, as well as dollar-for-dollar matched funding from Geelong Arts Centre.

With the first event scheduled to take place from 5:30 - 8:00pm on Thursday 9 June, Community Fuel will see the Geelong community come together at Geelong Arts Centre’s Ryrie Street Level 1 Lounge to support a local creative or organisation while also enjoying the best in live and local entertainment over a bowl of soup and a refreshing beverage.

A night dedicated to celebrating and supporting the artistic heart of our clever and creative city, a $10 Community Fuel ticket affords attendees dinner, live entertainment, and most importantly, a coveted vote for their favourite creative idea.

Whether in need of a new drum kit for their band or looking to pitch a feature film in Hollywood, Geelong Arts Centre’s Creative Engine is all about enabling creatives with the financial fuel to achieve their goals.

This is grassroots, community action at its best and the kind of social enterprise that can change lives, hearts, and minds.

Local creatives and organisations are invited to submit a short and sweet online application, with 3-4 successful applications being selected by the Creative Engine team to pitch their projects at each live event.

Entries are open to community arts organisations, not-for-profits, independent artists, students, and professional or amateur artists. All styles of projects across any art form are encouraged to apply.

Winning projects are not required to submit a formal acquittal, only to return to a future Community Fuel event to provide a verbal update on the progress of their project.

First round applications are open to creatives now until 5:00pm 8 May. To learn more and apply online, visit geelongartscentre.org.au/creative-engine/community-fuel

ABOUT RACH BRENNAN
Geelong based singer-songwriter Rach Brennan is re-emerging with commanding and confessional indie-pop.

With a collection of new songs, Rach’s new self-titled project is a decidedly raw departure from her band The Pines, who played their last gig June 2021. While RB&TP was a celebration of naivety and early-20’s growing pains, this new chapter is embracing maturity and discomfort, emboldened by Rach’s confidence to create moodier material with her adapted band. Currently in pre-production with brother and long-term musical collaborator Liam Brennan, Rach is excited to introduce this new era of music both live and recorded in 2022.
