How to Catch A Star

WHIMSICAL | ENCHANTING | ADVENTUROUS

AGES 2-8 and their adults

Based on the book by Oliver Jeffers. Adapted for the stage by Sandra Eldridge with original music by Elena Kats-Chernin.

“Once there was a boy and the boy loved stars very much. Every night he watched the stars from his window and wished he had one of his own. One day, he decided he would try to catch a star... but first he had to think of a plan...”

Taking you on a journey from awe and wonder, through perseverance to triumph, in this stunning adaptation by Sandra Eldridge, Oliver Jeffers’ magical tale about reaching for dreams will be brought to life on stage through storytelling and exquisite new music by Elena Kats-Chernin, performed by an Australian Chamber Orchestra string quartet.

ABOUT THE BOOK AND THE AUTHOR

Oliver Jeffers makes art and tells stories. How to Catch a Star was his first picture book, and a highly acclaimed debut novel. Oliver has gone on to create a collection of award-winning and bestselling picture books, which have been translated into many languages all over the world.

In making this book, Oliver learned that the tiny pinpricks of light you can see in the sky each night (except when it’s raining) are really huge balls of burning gas that are millions of miles away, and can burn for millions of years. The nearest star to earth is the sun and it is so close that you can even see it during the day (except when it’s raining).
