Short Black Opera returns to Geelong Arts Centre for its remarkable 8th year!
Explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture under the guidance of First Nations artists across the Geelong arts precinct.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students come together in this week-long opportunity to learn culture, music and storytelling in workshops meticulously crafted by talented Yorta Yorta Soprano, Composer and Educator Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO.
Day 1 / Monday 3rd June
9.30am – 12.30pm
Intensive getting to know you session.
Warm-ups, games and learning how to sing in a group – all welcome.
Day 2 / Tuesday 4th June
9.30am – 12.30pm
Intensive skill building and audition day.
In the audition session we will be looking for children who show high levels of passion, commitment, ability, and potential - all welcome.
Day 3 / Wednesday 5th June
9.30am – 12.30pm
Developing your voice and song writing skills – by invitation after day 2.
Day 4 / Thursday 6th June
9.30am – 12.00pm
Basics of singing together in harmony and creating a unique performance.
Day 5 / Friday 7th June
9.30am – 12.00pm
Dress rehearsal.
12.00pm – 1.00pm
Performance.
